Our founder and owner-operator, Mark Coomes, began his journey in the field of technology back in his hometown of Louisville, Kentucky. Early in his career, Mark quickly developed a reputation for being the “go-to guy” when it came to solving cable, internet, and home tech problems. Whether it was climbing poles in the freezing rain, crawling through attics during summer heatwaves, or staying late to make sure a customer’s network was working just right—Mark always believed in putting in the hard work and doing it the right way, the first time.

Over the years, Mark built a diverse resume, working with major providers like Time Warner Cable, Spectrum, Insight Communications, Comcast, Bright House, and a number of smaller regional tech and telecom companies. He handled everything from coaxial and fiber optic installs to troubleshooting complex residential and commercial systems. He worked on everything from simple streaming device setups to massive, multi-floor business networks. It’s this depth of experience that has shaped Coomes Commodities into what it is today—a company founded by someone who has truly been in the trenches and knows what works.

In 2022, Mark made a life-changing decision to relocate near Marco Island, just off the coast of Naples, Florida. Attracted by the beautiful landscape, slower pace of life, and strong sense of community, he quickly found his footing working in fiber optic sales and tech support. His job brought him into hundreds of homes and businesses across the island—many of them snowbirds, retirees, and seasonal residents who were looking for reliable internet, security, and home tech solutions they could trust.

Time and again, Mark noticed a common theme: while there were providers offering services like internet, TV, or security cameras, very few offered a comprehensive, honest, and personalized approach. Residents were often left piecing together solutions from multiple vendors—one company for mounting TVs, another for wiring, another for cameras, and still another for networking. Even worse, some were simply being overcharged or underserved, with no one to call when something didn’t work right.

So in 2025, recognizing the demand and the opportunity to truly make a difference, Mark officially launched Coomes Commodities LLC.
